I am always drawn to paint colorful, quirky boats.  Balboa Island is the perfect place to scout around for subject matter and set up an easel for a day to paint en plein air.  I found this charming turquoise boat, faded and beaten by the sun...and immediately got excited to paint it.  I had so much fun painting on this day, as the light was just right, and I really enjoyed playing with color and brushstrokes.  You can read more about it on my blog.
