'Flying Colors' was painted on South Balboa Island.  I was driving home one evening and got stuck in traffic, so I decided it would be the perfect detour to drive to Balboa Island and set up for a quick evening plein air painting session.  It turned out to be a fantastic evening: warm air, golden evening light, and many colorful sailboats flying back and forth!  (And, yes, I keep an emergency painting kit in my car for times like these).
