"GOLDEN BLOOMS" was painted 'en plein air' (outside) in Tesuque, New Mexico, just north of Santa Fe. This painting holds a lot of special meaning to me, as it was a painting adventure with my dad, who is also an artist. We drove around Santa Fe on this particular morning, scouting out a good painting location, and this was an obvious spot on a dirt road with enough room to park our car and set up easels. What a fun day! I am always so inspired to paint the brilliant yellow chamisa blooms that are scattered all over Santa Fe. In this scene I love the play of yellow against the distant blue mountains.
