This contemporary seascape features brilliant blue sea tones with a early morning sky and warm sand foreground. "Looking South" was inspired by my local beach where I spend many mornings surfing. On this particular morning, I was looking south at the waves, and because the waves were too small to surf, I decided to paint instead. Most of my paintings are inspired by the outdoors and painted in the studio, or they are painted on-site ('en plein air', as the french say).
