'Monterey Morning Light' was painted 'en plein air' (outside, on location) at Asilomar Beach, during a recent trip to Monterey for a painting workshop.  During this intensive week of painting (7 or more hours a day), the weather was uncharacteristically warm, and sunny.  I would arrive to this spot early enough to paint the morning light on these rock outcroppings, which made them appear to glow.
