This was painted 'en plein air' on my way home from a recent art-filled camping trip through Big Sur. I was headed south on Highway 1, my last morning of travel. As the sun was rising over the mountain, it cast a warm light over the field and onto the ocean rocks and cliffs. I immediately pulled off to the side of the road and set my easel up to try to capture the early light before it changed, looking south toward Sand Dollar Beach.
