This contemporary seascape features silhouetted surfers against the soft, warm glow of the setting sun.  While this is a studio painting, it is directly inspired by a plein air sketch I did one evening on the beach in San Clemente, Ca, my hometown.   Most of my paintings are inspired by the outdoors and painted in the studio, or they are painted on-site (en plein air). It is painted with high quality oil paint on canvas surrounded by a solid hand-crafted (black) wood floater frame. The depth of the frame gives this painting a nice substantial look and sculptural feel.
