After several trips to Torrey Pines, hiking and painting all around, I kept coming back to this spot on the beach at the entry of the park.  I was enchanted by the simplicity of the blue lifeguard tower, with the dramatic backdrop of cliffs.  I spent an afternoon at Torrey Pines State Beach capturing this scene.  I challenged myself to paint on a larger canvas than usual (for plein air).  It was a spectacular day, and I totally enjoyed the process of painting large-scale, on location.  Another plein air painting as part of the ongoing La Jolla Plein Air Series, hosted by Misfit Gallery.  Read about it on my blog, 'Updates from the Easel'...
