During a recent art-filled camping trip through the pristine Big Sur central California coastline, I stopped to camp for the night at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Campground.  I arrived just before sundown.  And as the fading sunlight streaked through the towering redwood trees, I immediately pulled into camp and set up my gear on the picnic table to paint.  Just the day before, a family friend had suggested, while in Steinbeck country, I should read one of John Steinbeck's famous novels, 'Travels with Charley'.  It seemed like a good idea, so I followed suit.  It wasn't until I was at this particular campsite, just after finishing the painting, that I realized  how fitting it was that the book cover matched the scene I had just painted.
